Frequently Asked Questions What is Clownarchy? Clownarchy is all about getting our voices heard while delighting people. We are a movement of non-violent non-destructive activist clowns who go out in public and perform clown gags designed to point towards the truth while making people laugh. Currently much of our focus is on reminding people of the Bush Administration's record on just about everything. This is an area where the political left has a huge advantage. Many fewer republicans are going out in clown suits to get their voices heard. Do I need to have clown experience? No experience necessary. Everyone has some skills that can be useful to the Clownarchist movement. If you want to perform, and never have, jump on in! We have clown trainings at various times, and all are welcome. What the hell is wrong with you people? Everything! -- For those of you asking this question, it's possible that this might not be the best group for you to be joining right now. If I go out with Clownarchy am I risking getting arrested? No one has gotten arrested yet. So far we have only been involved in legal activities, though we are planning some civil disobedience actions, we will be very clear with participants about when we are risking or planning arrests. Can I get involved without performing? Yes. There are plenty of non-performing non-clown jobs to be done, including on location support for performers, as well as away from the action support. Clownarchy works only with lots of help! When and where is the Million Clown March? In Washingtion DC. October is when we are trying to get a permit for. Actual date TBA. We are planning a caravan to leave about 2 weeks ahead of the march that will criss-cross the country, 'red-nosing' everyone in our path, and growing in numbers as we travel. How can I get involved with Clownarchy? Sign up here at: Get Involved and let us know what your skills are, so we can work together most effectively.
How else can I help?
You can help out financially, by making a donation. All current proceeds are going towards hard costs of 'The Million Clown March'.
We also take donations of props, costumes, sound equipment, and so forth. Who started Clownarchy? A small playful group of friends in Oakland California, who felt there had to be a way for us to get our voices heard without whining.
