GAG Two clowns standing side by side. One is holding a stool, the other holding a sword. The sword clown starts to talk.
"I'm here with John Q. Public (pushes down on shoulder of stool clown who sits down on the stool) We here at the Bush administration have a lot we want you to swallow." (showing long metal sword with words written down the length reading 'TAX CUTS ENERGY POLICY WAR IN IRAQ ECONOMY PARTRIOT ACT'. He starts to put the sword down the throat of the sitting clown)
"First we want you to swallow the tax cut, then our new, top secret, energy policy, followed by the war in Iraq, then the economy, and if we can get you to swallow all that, then the patriot act will just slide right on down. (sword now down the sitting clowns throat to the hilt) And the best part is, the man is fine! He suffers no ill effects! Get up! Get up!"
When the clown stands up, sword still down the clowns throat, the stool is stuck to the clowns butt, apparently skewered from the inside. The clown waddles off, stool stuck to butt.
PROPS: Sword Swallowing Trick. - Available online, or at some magic stores. Get the roll-up kind, not the telescoping kind. Or make your own.
Use a black fine-point 'Sharpie' permanent marker to write down each side, the length of the sword: TAX CUTS ENERGY POLICY WAR IN IRAQ ECONOMY PATRIOT ACT.
Lightweight stool sturdy enough to sit on. I made mine with 3/4" plywood 11" circle, and three 1" round by 16" long dowels. The middle of the seat is drilled with a small hole.
A 4' piece of thin rope or 'trick line' goes down through the small hole in the middle of the seat and is knotted so it won't come back out, the other end has a loop big enough for the sitting clown's head to fit through.
The length of the string is adjusted so when the clowns is sitting on the stool with the string around the neck they can adjust the tension by sitting up straight, or slouching. (The string comes up between clowns legs, past the belly, and the loop goes around the neck)
TIPS: The clown puts the string up through the bottom of the shirt, out the neck, and places the loop around the neck. This allows the clown to hold the stool naturally right in front of the belly. To sit they just slide the stool between the legs and under the butt. By sitting up straight and standing keeping torso extended, the stool remains attached to the clown's butt by pressure on the string around the clowns neck.
Practice the sword trick part of it with your partner, till you can do the trick well.
