'Return of the Clowns'
BART Ride - Big
Success!
-----
18
clowns plus support crew were followed by photographers and video
crews as they enthralled passengers, and spread the laughter throughout downtown
San Francisco BART stations.
Dick Cheney was out walking his invisible dog (with a tag reading 'Weapons of
Mass Destruction'). At one point he and George Bush
exchanged wedding vows and rings.
The larger costumes ('Big Oil' as the bride -
carrying around George W. Bush the groom and A Guantanamo prisoner clown in a
very small cell being carried on the back of Ashcroft) were again big hits. Also
very popular was the Bush Flower-Clown gag and the Medicare 'breakaway' cane.
'Fat-Cat' clown (Lawrenzo) brushed aside concerns of jobs, the economy, and war
to focus on protecting civilization from gay marriage.
The event was peaceful, there were no arrests. BART police were great,
only asking us to quiet down once, after some particularly loud chanting.
The officers seemed to delight in our presence. A couple of daring clowns
even got a BART officer involved in a clown gag, until a video crew showed
up and the young officer stopped, and shielded his face from the camera.
