CLOWNS DOWNTOWN
Lawrenzo and Fozzle wreaked havoc in the financial district of
San Francisco Friday, followed by a videographer and several bypassing
photographers.
The response was very positive. Fozzle in the newlywed costume (a
costume that looks like a bride, labled 'Big Oil', carrying around a groom
of G.W. Bush) seemed to be having a great time telling people -as Bush-
"Please remember my record, when you vote in November."
One dour looking fellow in an expensive suit was not at all amused
and refused a flyer saying "I've already given to your campaign."
Lawrenzo, dressed like a fat cat with a huge cigar, and money coming
out of his overstuffed suit pockets, picked right up on it. "Good man,
good man... I love George W. Bush too! Y'know what I love about him? He
understands the common billionaire."
They passed quickly in and out of a Starbucks, handing out flyers
inside and out, then into a packed upscale bar/ restaurant - The
Tadich Grill - to do their shtick. Some customers were laughing, and some
less amused. The comedy lasted all of 3 - 4 minutes . before
they were asked to leave. As they exited, several very concerned
managerial looking fellows from the attached hotel were rushing in, and
seemed to be happy to see the clowns exiting.
At the next door up the maitre d' pulled the door shut as they
walked by.
Further up the street they garnered laughter, applause, as well as
cheers accompanied by bells by a delighted cable car driver.
Taxi drivers, bicyclists, and people walking by all gave huge
smiles. At several stop lights Fozzle and Lawrenzo ran around to offer
Clownarchy flyers to waiting drivers and passengers.
